Pilgrims of Plymouth Rock was the official Cub Scout theme in November 2002. The following information is from the 2002 Great Salt Lake Utah Council PowWow book. This is a great theme, and many of the ideas that were used back then can still be used today.

The Pilgrims left England because of religious prosecution. On Sept. 6, 1620
the Pilgrims set sail on a ship called the Mayflower. The Pilgrims decided to settle at Plymouth.
The first winter was devastating; only 50 of the 110 Pilgrims and crew who left England
survived the first winter.
In 1621, a group of Abnaki Indians came to Plymouth and taught the Pilgrims how to survive in the new land. The harvest was very successful and the Pilgrims wanted to celebrate. Pilgrim Governor William Bradford proclaimed a day of thanksgiving. This custom is now celebrated annually as Thanksgiving Day.
We are similar to the Pilgrims when we try something new. Maybe we do not do it correctly and we need some guidance from someone who has more experience. Our parents and leaders are like the Abnaki Indians. They have more experience and can help us to be successful. Tonight, we would like to thank some of our special leaders. . . . .
Thank you!
